WDS is pleased to pleased to announce that Katherine Read has been promoted to Information Specialist.
During her four-year tenure as Administrative Assistant, Katherine has been instrumental in supporting WDS operations and contributing to the organization’s mission of promoting trusted data repositories and global collaboration. Her commitment, organizational skills, and attention to detail have greatly benefited both the WDS team and the international research community we serve.
“WDS is grateful to Katherine for her support of the Scientific Committee, the governing body of the World Data System. Her coordination of the Committee’s meetings, minutes, and support of the 12 members across the globe was critical for running an effective organization and showed that she could be relied upon to handle any challenge with grace and precision,” stated Meredith P. Goins, Executive Director of the WDS International Program Office.
In her new role as Information Specialist, Katherine will play a key part in advancing WDS’s core objectives as seen in the organization’s 2025-2027 Action Plan. She will support the development and implementation of best practices for data management for scientific data repositories, and engage and advocate for WDS member repositories and organizations worldwide. Katherine’s deep understanding of WDS standards and her passion for open science make her exceptionally well-suited for this vital position.
