International Data Week 2027

International Data Week (IDW) takes place every two years and is the leading international conference on research data. It is jointly organized by the International Science Council’s Committee on Data (CODATA) and World Data System (WDS), and the Research Data Alliance (RDA). It combines the RDA Plenary Meeting, the biannual meeting of this international member organization working to develop and support global infrastructure facilitating data sharing and reuse, with SciDataCon, the scientific conference addressing the frontiers of data in research, organized by CODATA and WDS.

The Council for Scientific and Industrial Research (CSIR) and the Department of Science and Innovation are delighted to host the International Data Week conference in Cape Town, South Africa, marking the second occasion the event will be held on the African continent, following Botswana’s successful hosting in 2018.

IDW2027 partnered with CSIR, the African Open Science Platform, the Academy of Science of South Africa, the National Research Foundation, and the University of Botswana
