Data Repository Descriptive Metadata: Recommendations & Resources

In this 2.5-hour workshop, we emphasized the importance of metadata used to describe data repositories, with a focus on the re3data Registry of Research Data Repositories, and the recommendations from the RDA Common Descriptive Attributes of Research Data Repositories. While some of these attributes are straightforward, others are more complicated to represent; thus, the reasons they are more difficult were summarized and time to discuss with participants is allocated. We also covered potential use cases and applications for these metadata. Towards the end, an optional follow-on activity over the next couple months was described.
